Gomel Meat Processing Plant reports monthly export of up to $1m

GOMEL, 26 June (BelTA) – OAO Gomel Meat Processing Plant exports $0.5-1 million worth of products every month. The figure was mentioned by the company’s Director Dmitry Korzh as Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Subbotin visited the enterprise on 26 June, BelTA has learned.
Dmitry Korzh noted that Gomel Meat Processing Plant products are known well in Belarus and abroad. The exports are primarily shipped to Russia and Kazakhstan. The first few batches were shipped to Vietnam in 2019. The company was certified for export to China in December 2019, however, the process slowed down due to the pandemic. “On the whole, we export about 10% of the output worth from $500,000 to $0.5 million per month,” the executive said.
Aleksandr Subbotin was made familiar with the manufacturing process, the company’s development prospects, and sales. Dmitry Korzh explained that Gomel Meat Processing Plant was one of the first companies in the region to open an online store. Its products are delivered to Gomel and nearby locations for now. The executive continued: “It is a very interesting matter for us. We see that volumes grow monthly. Sales of semi-cooked products have increased considerably. It is a positive factor.” In his words, Gomel Meat Processing Plant is working hard to offer new kinds of products. “For instance, we’ve changed the dry-cured products lineup. We’ve offered a lineup of GOST-compliant products using USSR recipes that contain virtually no additives,” Dmitry Korzh said. The company has about 40 retail outlets all over the country and more are opened every month.
Raw materials were discussed during the tour of the production shops. The deputy prime minister noted it is important to study the situation of every enterprise and region and see things with one’s own eyes. “Each has its own peculiarities, strong and weak points. Territories vary. It is necessary to know all the factors in order to make objective decisions,” Aleksandr Subbotin believes. He said it is necessary to study and accumulate the best practices of enterprises, regions and then replicate them all over the country.
While in Gomel Oblast, the deputy prime minister also visited SP OAO Spartak and a number of agribusiness enterprises.
